I have been interested in photography ever since I was in high school. When I was in 11th grade, the first affordable digital SLRs were introduced. They made it possible for beginners like me to experiment and to evaluate the results immediately. I decided to purchase a Canon Digital Rebel, and I am still very happy with this camera.
I spring 2010 I taught Physics to an 8th grade at a high school here in Mainz. The syllabus said "Optics". In the course of studying this topic, many teachers cover the Camera Obscura that can be built by the students using an aperture and a focusing screen. I decided to make pinhole cameras with my class that were fit with photographic paper. The cameras that were built by groups of three students varied in shape, dimensions and size of the pin holes. The students could chose a motive, distance and exposure time. By removing a piece of tape on the pin hole the photographic paper was exposed. The pictures were developed in a darkroom afterwards. I was so thrilled by this project that me interest for photography aroused anew.

Cats are an appealing motive for me, firstly because I find them extremely beautiful, secondly because they do not realize they are being photographed. Therefor they can neither be cooperative nor destructive. They just behave the way they are, and capturing this is a great challenge for me. In September 2010 I established a small photo studio.
